Miss Grand International 2020, the 8th edition of the international pageant, will be held in March 2021 in Thailand. This will be the first major international pageant which will be held after the covid-19 pandemic.
Miss Universe Australia organization, just recently, took to their official social media and announced that they won’t be sending a delegate to participate in Miss Grand International 2020 due to the government covid-19 restrictions.
However, they did say that they will come back stronger at the 2021 edition of Miss Grand International. This is combined with an official Australian announcement that makes it impossible to leave the country.
Australia has had a successful placement in Miss Grand International so far; In 2013, Kelly Louise Maguire Miss Grand Australia 2013 placed as the 4th Runner-up while Renera Thompsan Miss Grand Australia 2014 placed as the 3rd Runner-up at Miss Grand International 2014. In 2015, Claire Elizabeth Packer resumed the duties of Miss Grand International 2015 title after Anea García of Dominican Republic renounced the crown. Dani Fitch Miss Grand Australia 2016, Kassandra Kashian Miss Grand Australia 2017 and Kimberly Gundani Miss Grand Australia 2018 all placed in the Top 20 while Taylor Marlene Curry Miss Grand Australia 2019 placed in the Top 10.
