On the occasion of the International Transgender Day of Visibility, Do Tay Ha has been announced as the first transgender applicant for Miss Universe Vietnam 2021. From Tay Ninh, Do Tay Ha currently resides in Ho Chi Minh city.

Do has studied Business Administrator at HUFI - Ho Chi Minh City University of Food Industry. Do is a famous model in the transgender community. She is currently working at the ICS Center, an organization that promotes and protects the rights of the LGBT community. In Saigon, Do still perform in bars, as a model. “I'm passionate about the spotlight. I don't think the job is as cheap as many people think. If I practice and that consciousness is art, I won't be ashamed. Besides, it helps me have a very legitimate income. That helps me confidently step on the path I have chosen and soon touch my dream”, she said.

There is also a stigma of the community against transgender people in her country which she wishes to eliminate through her work. “We used to be miserable because the paperwork did not match our appearance when we applied for a job. At first, people admitted themselves, but when they met, knowing that transgender people, they gave their denials with very general reasons. It feels like we're always being devalued. I have a transgender girl working in the kitchen, she has twice as much work as other female friends”, Do added.

At work, Ha is considered by her colleagues to be active, confident and sociable. She will soon be seen on the stage of Miss Universe Vietnam 2021 creating history and opening doors for other transgender people to not only open up to opportunities around them but also break barriers like her.
