Amidst the hurly-burly and pageant chaos, we thought of reminiscing the previous winners who took the globe of beauty by storm and not only did they win the crown at international levels, but also entrenched a mark in their personal lives. Girls who have won the coveted title have gone on to live glamorous lives with most of them opting for modeling or acting. We bring forth the list of the 8 Miss India winners of all time who were better, in one way or the other, than all the other winners.

Reita Faria - Rita Faria was the first Indian beauty who won an international title of Miss World 1966, since its inception. She however eschewed the glamour world after the completion of her one year tenure as Miss World and gave herself to medicinal practice.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan - Perhaps the most famous of all Indian beauty queens is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She became the second Indian to win the title of Miss World in the year 1994. She was the first runner-up of the Miss India 1994 pageant and is one of the most renowned Indian faces on the global platform and has lived up to her title of being a 'Miss World'.
Sushmita Sen - Sushmita Sen was the woman who ended India's dearth at the Miss Universe contest in the year 1994. She became the first woman of Indian origin to win the “Miss Universe” title. She not only established herself as an actress in Indian Cinemas, but also showed her spirit as a woman by single-handedly taking care of two adopted daughters.
Diana Hayden – Diana can be tenured as the most cheerful and chirpy Miss India winner to be crowned as Miss World in the year 1997. The poise and grace that she carries harmonizes with her crisp diction and dialects. She was also the only Miss World contestant to run a hattrick of awards at the Miss World contest in 1997- Miss Photogenic, Miss Beachwear and Miss World.

Yukta Mookhey - Yukta Mookhey joined the Indian Miss World brigade becoming the fourth Indian to wear the coveted crown. She was crowned Miss World in December 1999 at the Olympia theatre in London at the age of 22. Post her reign, she acted in few Bollywood films, though was unable to establish herself successfully in the field.
Lara Dutta - Lara Dutta became the second Indian woman to win the Miss Universe pageant, in 2000, after Sushmita Sen and as of now the last in the league. She established herself as a renowned actor, a producer and a supportive wife to ace Indian tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi.
Priyanka Chopra – Priyanka was the last Indian to win the title of Miss World. It’s been over ten years that India has returned home empty handed from the international contests. Priyanka has shaped a niche for herself in Bollywood with her spectacular performances in various films.
Nicole Faria – Nicole Faria became the first Indian to win the Miss Earth 2010 title since its inception in 2001. Nicole who is a fashion model form Bangalore also won the Miss India Earth title at the Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 beauty pageant in Mumbai.
India is the land of serene beauties and the land now waits for it’s another astounding international crown to shine the splendor of India again!!
