Mika Matsuno was crowned as Miss Nippon Japan 2016 in a beauty pageant held in Tokyo on January 25’ 2016. The 48th edition of Miss Nippon Japan contest came to an end with huge success and proliferation. The pageant has produced many successful celebrities like Fujiko Yamamoto and Norika Fujiwara, who are now distinguished figures in Japan.
20 years old, Mika Matsuno is a Keio University student, and is the second daughter of Yorihisa Matsuno, head of the smaller opposition Japan Innovation Party. The Miss Nippon pageant holds an immense significance in Japan for it has produced many eminent celebrities in the nation. The Miss Nippon Contest has been held by a diet gym company and a newspaper company Sports Nippon every year in Japan.

Also an actress by profession, Mika Matsuno also received a glittering trophy with a kimono. Mika is the younger daughter of Japan Innovation Party representative, Yorihisa Matsuno and is looking forward to achieve a degree in the department of literature.
Post her crowning, Mika was quite enthralled to witness the booming response from the paparazzi, and hence expressed her genuine feelings as she beamed with joy. She said: “I am very glad. My father always supported me in the journey and wanted me to give my best and never stop. He is the one who inspired me to chase my dreams. He taught me to walk with a smile even in difficult situation. I was not confident, and faced inferiority complex. It was my father who made me walk with confidence.”
This edition of Miss Nippon encircled the theme of “Healthy Beautiful Woman Who Makes her Actions Speak." Around 2,804 people applied for the pageant and most refined and talented women were then trimmed down to 13 final candidates. The hunt for the queen began from September to December, after judging the ladies in kimonos, cocktail dress, swimsuit and interviews.
