The grand coronation of Miss Grand International was held just a few hours ago. Before the winner was announced to the entire world, the Top 5 delegates went through a very challenging question and answer round that tested their creativity, advocacy and grit. All the beauties gave their best answers that presented how deserving they were to attain this position.
All the finalists were asked one question by the host, which was, “As Miss Grand International 2018 tonight, if you could choose one country for your first visit to run your ‘Stop the War and Violence’ campaign, which country would you choose and what would be your first message to them?”
Following were the excellent answers that were given –
Miss Grand Japan 2018 Haruka Oda

Haruka was the first one to arrive on stage to answer the question that was presented to the Top 5 finalists and she chose her own country to visit, citing her nation’s tragic history during the world war. Haruka gave examples of Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Okinawa, the cities that were destroyed due to war and violence. She says that now, even though Japan has attained peace, the young generation has not experienced the same atrocities and thus wants to remind them why there is a need to stop war and violence. Haruka gives a very simple solution to prevent war and violence in the future and that is by having knowledge of the past and imbibing it in the present.
Miss Grand India 2018 Meenakshi Chowdhary

After Japan, it was India’s turn to present her perspective and the country she chose to visit was Indonesia citing the recent calamities that it has gone through. She said that while the world was busy fighting against each other, there is a need for us to understand that we are fighting against bigger things in life and in nature due to the natural calamities that have become so frequent. Meenakshi then goes on to say that we are humans first and it does not matter what the nationality and colour, we have the same colour beneath our skins, and that is red. With that, she closed her speech and won the hearts of the audience as well as the online viewers.
Miss Grand Puerto Rico 2018 Nicole M.Colón

India was followed by Puerto Rico, represented by Nicole who said that she would like to visit her own nation if she won the crown and it was the nation she grew up and in and identifies with. She says that Puerto Rico is known to have high rates of violence which is why it is important for her to visit her country and spread the message of ‘Stop the War and Violence’. Nicole would leave the message of love and tolerance and most importantly respect. In her closing line, she adds, “Instead of leaving good kids for our world, I want to leave a good world for our children,” which is an excellent take on how one can help others by taking measures on their own.
Miss Grand Paraguay 2018 Clara Sosa

Clara was next up after Puerto Rico and she chose the sensitive topic of the ongoing issues that the Hispano-American countries are facing due to the policies that Donald Trump is advocating. She chose to visit the President of the United States of America because the nation is an example to other countries and therefore her message to him would be to be an example of peace, love and tolerance. Clara's answer was a brave one which ultimately earned her the title of Miss Grand International 2018.

Nadia also chose the same nation to visit as the delegate before her, Paraguay. She chose to visit the United States of America calls the nation a ‘melting pot’ due to the existence of diverse cultures and a huge media platform. Through this, she will be able to get the most amount of media coverage and spread the message of “Stop the War and Violence”. Nadia suggests that we do not have to visit war affected zones to make the change. She advised that one could find it within themselves to spread the love. Nadia closes her speech by saying that today could be the last day one faces the dangers of war and violence if we decide to get committed to spreading love, which is a very wonderful notion.
