The Miss Nevada USA organization is all set to host the 2021 edition of 26th and 27th June 2021 at the South Point Hotel Casino and Spa where delegates from all over the state will compete for the title of Miss Nevada USA 2021. The winner will succeed Miss Nevada USA 2020 Victoria Olana of Paradise and will also win the opportunity to fight for the crown of Miss USA 2021 as Nevada’s representative.
Heading to the finale next weekend is the spectacular Miss Silver State 2021 Kataluna Enriquez, the first transwoman to vie for the Miss Nevada USA, and very possibly Miss USA crown. Kataluna made history in Nevada when she was crowned Miss Silver State USA, the first transgender woman to do so in the history of the beauty pageant.
The way to the crown hasn’t always been easy for the 27-year-old fashion designer, with one pageant requiring her to prove she was female before allowing her to compete. Miss Silver State USA is considered the most prestigious preliminary competition for the Miss Nevada USA competition, and her most recent win earned her a place in the statewide pageant.
This Filipina-American beauty is a healthcare admin, a fashion designer and owner for “Katalunakouture”. At a young age, Kataluna fought multiple challenges in her life. Now she uses her life experiences and shares it in her platform #BEVISIBLE, a campaign to combat hate through vulnerability.
Enriquez confirmed her participation for the next week, one her social media handle, as she wrote in her recent post, “Hi Miss Universe Nevada, heard you’re looking to crown a girl this weekend? Miss Silver State 5 more days to go till we spread our colors on stage.”
Kataluna is definitely not new to pageantry, as she also worn the crowns for Queen California, Queen USA 2016, and Super Sireyna WWUSA. She also represented USA at the Miss International Queen 2018 pageant where she made the Top 12. Her goal is to win Miss Nevada and move on to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageant.
As a survivor of physical and sexual abuse and a proud Transwoman of color, she aims to break barriers and represent those who aren’t always represented and continues to support numerous non-profit organizations and LGBTQ+ youth. She is definitely an incredible woman and displays great potential to win the crown and we hope to see her get to be the first transwoman on the Miss USA stage this year.
