Alex Smith was crowned as Miss Oklahoma USA 2017 on December 18, 2016. Smith will now head towards representing her state at the 66th Miss USA pageant, wherein Deshauna Barber of District of Columbia will pass on her crown to her successor.
Oklahoma has not been a successful winner at the Miss USA pageant and has never won until 2015, although the state came close in 1989 and 2010, when Jill Renee Scheffert and Morgan Woolard placed first runner-up to Gretchen Polhemus and Rima Fakih, respectively. Oklahoma is in the top 20 states in terms of number of semi-finalists. Olivia Jordan was crowned Miss USA 2015 on July 12, 2015 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, becoming the first contestant from Oklahoma to win the national title.
22 years old Alex Smith is a professional men’s clothier and the beauty was not only crowned Miss Oklahoma USA, but concluded her Business Administration and Marketing degree. She is a graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma where she completed her degree in three and a half years.

Smith was named as the Masonic Fraternity Student of Today, and she was awarded with the Ms. Bearcat award. The beauty queen has an appreciation for growing up in a rural community where she believes everyone is a friend, and neighbours support each other. Smith has also created and implemented an anti-bullying/self-esteem campaign over the years. She was invited to various schools to discuss the negative effects of bullying, and understands that building confidence within our youth is crucial in today’s society.
The delegate has donated time to the food pantry, has supported the adopt an angel project and hosted a benefit concert helping to raise over $7,000.00, for victims of the 2012 tornado that struck near her hometown. Smith has made giving back to the community a high priority in her life and approaches it with great dedication and zeal and has empathy for community service.
Alex began playing guitar and discovered a love for music at the age of ten. She has written and recorded several original songs. She is currently working on an album with hopes to release it within the next year. In her spare time, Alex Smith enjoys modeling, acting, traveling and spending time with her French bulldog, Benny Jett.
