At the conclusion of the splendid finale of Miss Universe 2016, Iris Mittenaere of France was crowned as the winner. The finale was held at the Mall of Asia Arena, and at the conclusion of the gala finale, Pia Wurtzbach crowned Iris as her successor.
Iris Mittenaere is a 23 years old woman who hails from the capital of fashion, which is Paris. She was born in a town known as Lille, which is located North of France. The stunning beauty stands at an astounding height of 5’ 8” and has a degree in Dental Surgery. No wonder, her best feature is her gorgeous smile!
This beauty loves to explore the world, to know different cultures, and experience travel in the most exciting ways. The stunner gives away her fitness secrets by sharing how sporty and adventurous she is. She loves to cook and try out new and interesting dishes from the French cuisine. The beauty, besides living her life to the utmost, wants to make the people around her happy. The known to be funny and caring Iris wholeheartedly volunteers for good causes.
Raquel Pelissier of Haiti was adjudged first runner-up while Andrea Tovar of Colombia was titled second runner-up. The 65th edition of Miss Universe pageant witnessed the battle of eighty six contestants.
The gala coronation kick started with a performance by Flo Rida with side by side introduction of the contestants. The host for the night was Steve Harvey, with back-stage hosting by plus sized model Ashley Graham. Steve Harvey was sporty enough to joke around about his blunder from last year and did mention that the key to life is to move forward. The event moved ahead with a flashback at Pia Wurtzbach’s journey as Miss Universe 2015, and a little chat with Pia only brought back so many memories and realisation on how badly the universe is going to miss her as the queen.
It was next time to announce the Top 13 finalists of Miss Universe 2016. So, here they are –
It was now time for the Top 13 to set the stage on fire, as the beauties walked the stage donning Yamamay Swimsuits. The best part was that the girls got to chose their choice of Swimsuit according to their body type. The Swimsuit round narrowed down the Top 13 to Top 9. Here they are –

After the announcement of the Top 9, the Best in National Costume winner was announced, and the award went to Myanmar. Htet Htet was dressed as a "marionette". Marionette is a puppet worked by strings, and since the marionettes are controlled from above a stage, Htet Htet had a light fibre frame on her shoulder. The frame weighed around 40kgs, and potrayed the scenery background depicting Myanmar's landmarks.
It was time for the Top 9 finalists to dazzle in their evening gowns, designed by renowned Fashion Designers. After the evening gown round, the Top 9 were narrowed down to Top 6 –

The Top 6 finalists went through the Question and Answer round, where each contestant answered a question put forward by the judges. Based on the Q&A, the Top 3 finalists were advanced, which included – Colombia, France and Haiti.

The Top 3 then went on to compete through a final series of Q&A. The final Q&A was the common Question and Answer round for the Top 3. The common question for the Top 3 was – “Name something over the course of your life that you failed at, and tell us what you learned from that experience?”
The Top 3 walked the stage for the final time, as Boyz II Men musically jazzed up the ambience with their amazing voices. And finally it was time for Pia Wurtzbach to take her final walk as the reigning Miss Universe.
