The Miss Universe 2017 voyage ended for Philippines’ representative Rachel Peters, when she failed to enter the final Top 5 cut of the competition. And with this it crashed down the hopes of millions of Philippine’s natives, who were rooting for Rachel with all their heart and soul.

Rachel was an early favourite, whether we talk about the prelims or the national costume, she set the Miss Universe 2017 stage on fire. The loudest cheers came for her from the audience when she came on stage on the gala night. The prediction gurus had already put their bets on her. Philippines’ countrymen were already set to celebrate their glorified victory.

All were proven wrong when her name was not announced in Top 5. Many hearts broke, many dreams crashed, it was a hard time for the beauty pageant lovers.

But what we failed to understand is why she did not make it to Top 5. She had the personality, looks, and knew how to walk, talk and present herself well. Only one thing we can think about is her background story. The Miss Universe pageant prides in choosing the winners on the basis of their strong and heart-touching stories, which aspire the hearts of millions. This is one of the main criteria for the pageant to understand the candidate and how the girl will be able to contribute to the title if they win.

Rachel’s introductory video left a classic impression on everyone. It was a sweet and happy video, but somehow lacked a strong background to her personality.

And if we compare her with Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters from South Africa, the winner of the night showcased her story being car hijacked which made her do a greater good by installing a program to train women in self-defence in various situations. She also talked about her biggest motivation that comes from her half-sister who has a disability, who lives in Potchefstroom with her stepmother and father.

But keeping this factor aside, there is no doubt that Rachel is a complete package. Her lose in Miss Universe 2017 made the nation to come forward to congratulate her to enter the Top 10. The biggest names of her country made her feel proud of herself.

Rachel also shared her great experience through this message, “Without a doubt my greatest achievement to date!! To be the 66th Filipina to stand on the Miss Universe stage with the most beautiful girls in the world, and to represent the most amazing country- Ang mahal kong Pilipinas! ???? Thank you so much to everyone who was part of this journey, i am SO lucky to have every single one of you in my life.”

She further stated, “Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine I would be brave enough to do something like this, but you all are the reason I got to where I am. I'm still so overwhelmed by all the love. I promise I gave my all but I've always been a believer in fate, destiny and God's perfect timing so I'm thankful for the opportunity and the memories, but I am so looking forward to seeing what God has in store for me, and to come home to the Philippines.”

Win or no win, this Filipina beauty conquered the heart of all through par excellence in this competition and the whole world is proud of her accomplishment.
