Almost a week ago, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo had finally addressed the questions about her situation with Neil Salvacion, her boyfriend of over seven years, calling it a ‘complicated situation’ after the latter removed the pictures of the two just after the 69th Miss Universe.
The rumours of the couple breaking up surfaced after Neil deleted pictures with Rabiya from his social media just after the Miss Universe competition but still followed her. Rabiya had opened about her relationship with Neil in November 2020 after she shared that the two had been together for six years and Neil was her first boyfriend. She also mentioned that Neil had made Rabiya promise not to leave him after winning Miss Universe Philippines.
The long-time boyfriend, Neil Salvacion has finally broken his silence, confirming that he and the reigning Miss Universe Philippines has officially split up amid the rumours. Salvacion revealed that he and Rabiya are not together anymore and have broken up through his social media.
“The real thing is, we’re not together anymore, but we’re both okay, moving forward, we talked and we’re both happy with our own lives,” he said. This came soon after Rabiya admitted the complicated situation in an interview with Boy Abunda.
It took no time for netizens to notice that they are not following each other on Instagram anymore. Neil also called out those who were “spreading rumors without knowing the real story." Salvacion also reminded and requested his followers that "it doesn't cost a cent to be kind," urging people to instead spread kindness and to be respectful towards each other.
“We don’t deserve all the negativities manifested towards us, especially towards Rab, she worked hard to achieve whatever she has right now, and she deserves it all. It is NEVER okay to degrade a person just to prove a point, I mean, if you have nothing good to say, it’s better to keep it within yourself,” Salvacion added.
The Filipina beauty queen is still in the United States, weeks after finishing in the Top 21 of the 69th Miss Universe pageant and around the same time, she was spotted with with former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Andre Brouillette, fueling rumors of a budding romance.
Rabiya later clarified that there is “no malice” in her photos with Andre, pointing out they only got to meet each other thrice. She also mentioned that she and Andre are both talents of talent manager and pageant mentor Jonas Gaffud, explaining why they're in events together.
