Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe South Africa 2019 on 9th August 2019 at Sun Arena. She became the official representative of South Africa in Miss Universe 2019. Zozibini Tunzi said she aimed to change the narrative associated with pageants on the world stage as she prepared for Miss Universe next month. She said despite negative perceptions about the competition, it provided women opportunities to lead.

The Miss SA organization invited all South Africans to bring flags, signs and South African spirit to wish Zozibini luck as she seeks to capture the crown. The diva is a confident as well as strong beauty who, for sure, will give a tough competition at Miss Universe 2019 which will be the 68th edition of the Miss Universe competition.

The diva also took this to her official page and captioned, “I am leaving South Africa as one but will confidently stand on that global stage as millions. I have never in my wildest dreams imagined that I would experience a love like this. I carry you in my heart and spirit. Thank you so much for always showing up for me South Africa. All my love.”

Tunzi also said, as the country observed 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, she would use the opportunity to advocate for women empowerment and address gender-based violence globally. “The Miss Universe platform as well as the Miss South Africa platform are some of the few platforms that actually give women the ability to lead and the sooner we start looking at it as a leadership position, the less it’s something that’s taboo and the more we can start moving forward as women,” she said. If Tunzi wins the international pageant, she would become the third South African to wear the crown, which she said will be a victory for all who had supported her during her reign. “I want them to know that I leave as myself to the Miss Universe stage, but when I stand there I will be standing as millions of South Africans.”
