Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the most scintillating angelic beauty and an idol of many, is one of the most renowned actresses in Bollywood Industry of India. Not only in India, Aishwarya has also established her identity globally with her charm, elegance and hard work. She was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 2012. But how exactly did it all commence?

Aishwarya kick-started her career in modelling and became one of the renowned models of India. Besides her profession, she kept a major eye on her studies and was mostly involved in it until she decided to go for Femina Miss India in 1994. She went for it and ended up being the first runner-up. Being adjudged the first-runner-up, it broke her dream of going to Miss Universe pageant but the beauty held it on and went for Miss World Pageant.
The grand coronation night of Miss World 1994 was a big day for this diva as she was crowned by her predecessor Lisa Hanna Miss World 1993 with happiness. The moment was loaded with pride not only for her but also for the entire nation. Along with being crowned Miss World 1994, she was also awarded the Miss Photogenic title at the finale. This year, it has been twenty-five years since she won the crown.
After flourishing in pageantry, she made a move towards acting and made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam's 1997 Tamil film Iruvar and had her first Bollywood film release in ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’ opposite Bobby Deol that same year. This move of hers brought her immense appreciation and under the limelight.

After her debut in Bollywood, she continued working and got various other movies released and achieved huge success and won two Best Actress awards at Filmfare for her performances in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas (2002).
Her off-screen roles include duties as a brand ambassador for several charity organisations and campaigns as she is a Goodwill Ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS). She was the Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival in the year 2003. She touched the heights of success in her acting career, and in the year 2007, she finally found her soulmate Abhishek Bachchan and got married to him, with whom she has one daughter.
