Susan Leica was chosen as Miss Michigan USA 2016 on 28^’ September 2015 at McMorran Auditorium.  Susan was Miss Lionia USA and will compete at Miss USA 2016 next year where Olivia Jordan, unless she wins Miss Universe, will be crowning her successor.  Susan was crowned by the outgoing queen, Rashontae Wawrzyniak, who was in Top 11 at Miss USA 2015.  Susan Leica will be trying to become the fourth Miss USA from Michigan in the coming edition of Miss USA 2016.

Carole Gist was the first lady from Michigan to triumph Miss USA in 1990. She was later adjudged as the first runner-up at Miss Universe 1990, which was won by Miss Norway Mona Grudt in Los Angeles, USA.  Subsequently, Kenya Moore was the next Miss Michigan to win Miss USA in 1993. She later finished as a Top 6 finalist in Miss Universe 1993, which was won by Miss Puerto Rico Dayanara Torres in Mexico.  Both Carole and Kenya hailed from the same area as Susan Leica, that is, Detroit.  The third and the last Miss USA from Michigan was Rima Fakih from Dearborn, who is one of the very few Miss USA winners to go unplaced at Miss Universe in the year 2010. Michigan is one of only twelve states to have had more than one Miss USA and has had the ninth highest number of semi-finalists. They have not, however, been victorious in gaining other awards. Seeing the winning record of Michigan at Miss USA and Miss Universe, the expectations from Susan is definitely elevated.

Susan Leica is a spine specialist at Biomet Spine in Greater Detroit Area since more than 2 years.  She has worked in past with American Eagle Logistics as sales representative in Farmington Hills and has studied Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Biology.  Being a trilingual, she can speak Romanian and Polish in addition to English.

Leica is zealous about volleyball, she grew up playing lacrosse and volleyball every day. “Believe it or not I am quite the little athlete” she said. One of her goals is to do a shoot with the Sports Illustrated photographer, Bob Martin. It’s not her first pageant, she was a semi-finalist in 2012, third runner-up in 2011 and made the Top 5 the last year, her perseverance truly got paid off this year! One of her friends revealed: “The Miss Michigan USA’s crown was one of her biggest dream”. Susan has also has worked as a model with several car companies including: Audi, Maserati, Cadillac, Toyota and Ferrari. Her modeling accolades include being named Michigan Model of the Week, walking the runways of New York during Bridal Fashion Week, and being featured in Ambassador Magazine, StyleLine Magazine, Real Detroit and Insider Weddings.
