Tartag Tinhinane of Azeffoun was crowned Miss Kabylie 2016 at the conclusion of the eleventh edition of the Miss Kabylie pageant, held at Kateb Yacine-Regional Theatre in Tizi Ouzou on January 10’ 2016.
She defeated 17 others delegates to clinch the coveted title and the crown. Hundreds of girls have applied this year to take part in the final selection for which only 20 postulants are retained.
At the same event, Thanina Laïb of Aïn El-Hammam was adjudged as the first runner-up while Tirki Radia of Béjaïa was titled as the second runner-up.

The Miss Kabylie pageant has become an annual event, tied to the celebration of yennayer, first day of the Berber year. The first edition of the pageant was held in 2005 as an initiative by Mourad Ait Ahmed and Mrs Feriel.
Kabylie, also known as ‘Kabylia’ is a part of the ‘Tell Atlas’ mountains, and is located at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. Kabylia covers several provinces of Algeria: the whole of Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia (Vgayet), most of Bouira (Tubirett) and parts of the wilayas of Boumerdes, Setif, Bordj Bou Arreridj and Jijel.
