Victoria Huggins has been crowned as new Miss North Carolina after taking the crown on Saturday night at Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh.

She will now represent her state at the Miss America 2018 to be held in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on September10, 2017. The event will be broadcast by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). Miss America 2017 from Arkansas, Savvy Shields will officially crown her successor.
Huggins, a native of St. Paul's, sang the Righteous Brothers song "Unchained Melody" and captured a preliminary talent award prior to the finals. She wore a white, long-sleeved Jovani original dress in the evening gown competition.
In addition to becoming the 80th Queen of the Tarheel State, Huggins also received the Dana Reason Quality of Life Award, chosen from qualified applicants who excel in their commitment to enhance the quality of life for others through volunteerism and community service.
Miss North Carolina also frequently makes appearances in the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
