Whitney Sharpe of Burlington was crowned Miss Massachusetts USA 2016 by the departing queen, Polikseni Manxhari of Holden on November 22, 2015 in Boston at Lowell Memorial Auditorium in front of a crowd of hundreds. She will now compete at the 2016 Miss USA Pageant where she hopes to be crowned by the reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan from Oklahoma. Amanda Soucy was titled as first runner-up, while Ashley Baptista was adjudged as the second runner up. Nicole Ursch was titled as third runner-up and Caroline Lushbough followed as the fourth runner-up. Alexis Frasca, 17, won out among 40 teen contestants to take the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen USA 2016. It was the Franklin High School senior’s first attempt at the crown.

Completing the semi-finalists spots were, Kristina Rugnetta Samantha Caouette, Nicole Eacuello, Jenna Kelley, Leanne Annese, Molly McQuade, Maria Valdez, Cassandra Cardelle, Stephanie Wozniak and Allison DeJesus. While, in the Teen division Ashley Simoes, Lillian Andrews, Caitlyn Martin and Lexi Woloshchuk rounded out the top five.

Whitney is a fashion-blogger from Burlington, the diva, who walked away with the Miss Massachusetts USA crown on her third attempt. The 21 year old diva, finished first runner-up last year but won it all Sunday night. A student at Lynn University, Sharpe beat out 51 other contestants for the right to compete in the nationally-televised Miss USA pageant next year. Beaming with joy, Whitney expressed: “This journey began for me almost three years ago when I was introduced to pageantry. I was instantly hooked when I learned that as a titleholder, you have a job to be a leader and a role model for my state. Volunteerism is a huge part of my life, and I can use the title of Miss Massachusetts USA to help my community.”

Whilst Massachusetts is not one of the more victorious states in terms of number of placements or semi-finalists, their affluences were improved when Shawnae Jebbia was crowned Miss USA in 1998 and Susie Castillo won the crown in 2003. Both Miss USA winners from Massachusetts were asked the same final question during the live telecasts. While Shawnae was a Top 5 finalist at Miss Universe 1998, Susie was amongst the Top 15 semi-finalist at Miss Universe 2003. Susie was also crowned as Miss Teen Massachusetts USA in 1998.
